You all know how we love the Shops at Roosevelt on 42nd street in Des Moines. Well, one of the reasons we love it so much is La Mie Bakery. They serve up breads, pastries, desserts, breakfasts and lunches all made fresh daily. You can't go wrong with anything you pick.
We love to stop in for breakfast for the quiche and a danish and the soup and sandwiches for lunch are yummy and filling. You can pick up a loaf of bread for dinner while you are there too. Saturdays can get super busy, so if you can make it in on a weekday, you can beat the crowds. It's sometimes hard to find a seat on Saturday mornings.
Don't be afraid to bring the little ones in, they have high-chairs and it's casual enough and loud enough in there for them not to bother anyone. Nathan gives the french toast two thumbs up! Josh recommends the bacon and cheddar quiche and I'm a fan of the fresh fruit tarts. But try something new for yourself, and let us know what you liked so we can try it too!

It's a very cute cafe with fantastic baked goods. Our one complaint on our last visit was that our quiche came out cold in the middle. They were quick to fix the problem though. You can tell the staff enjoy working there and you can totally taste the love in the food. Try it out if you haven't already discovered this popular baked-good destination.
