515 Brewing is brewing up some fun!

The newest Brewery in town is 515 Brewing on University Ave in Clive.  This place is pretty cool.  It's a tap room, so don't expect to be waited on at your table if they are busy, but do expect some passionate brewers to get you excited about some awesome craft beer and have a lot of fun. Just hop on up to the bar, grab a beer and pick your seat.

The spacious spot is decked out with a bar, high-top tables, regular tables and even a couch area to relax, sip and chat.  So you can pick your friends, your beer, your area to sit and down a cold one before heading home after work or on the weekend.  Right now they are open Thursdays 4-9, Fridays 4-11, Saturdays 12-11 and Sundays 12-5.

They don't serve food, but they do have little pretzels!  They encourage you to bring your own food or even order take out if you get hungry!

Elicia Ropte, super cool wife of part-owner Dave Ropte was nice enough to give us a run-down of some of the brews.  Since 515 is a nanobrewery and has a 3 barrel system, the beer selection will change often.  The smaller system allows them to experiment more than a brewery with a larger system, so this is just a sampling of what to expect.:

Lil' Tart---Berlinner Weisse which is a sour wheat beer. 3.5% Alcohol. Very clean, refreshing taste. A popular summertime beer with it's low alcohol content and a sourness similar to lemonade. (I liked this one the best!)

Stout Of The Closet-imperial stout with strong notes of coffee and chocolate. 8% Alcohol

Belgian Paradise (Just named this week!) Belgian Style ale. Subtle hints of citrus and banana with a peppery finish on the back end thanks to the addition of grains of paradise. 6% Alcohol
Beers are a bargain at $4-$6 per glass.

They have a great background story, with four guys coming together to pursue a dream, one even cashing out part of his 401k to make it happen!

Ok, a little strange to add
a photo of a bathroom,
but check out the handle!
They have more beer to come and they also partner with Confluence Brewing Company in Des Moines to serve some of their beers in the tap room to make sure they have a fantastic variety available.

515 is already taking off so quickly that they are working hard to keep up with demand!  The grand opening is coming up this Saturday, March 23rd from 3-7!  They will have t-shirt give-aways and food from Tacopocalypse available! Yum!
