Every day is Mardi Gras at Fat Tuesday!

Fat Tuesday is totally worth driving to the South Side to try.  It's a family owned, authentic Cajun restaurant and the food is awesome. If you know how to get to the Zoo, you know how to get here.  It's on SW 9th close to Army Post road.

Sampler platter
Choosing what to order could potentially be difficult, but they make it easy by offering an appetizer sampler platter for only $4!  The platter offers samples of red beans & rice, craw fish etouffee, jambalaya and gumbo. Start your meal with the sampler and then choose from exotic options like alligator and frog legs, or go for a shrimp po-boy or catfish and cajun fries.  You may just love one of the sampler items and order a full-sized portion.  Josh is a fan of the alligator while I'm more of a sauteed shrimp and jambalaya fan.  But, if you like sweet potatoes you have to get a side order of them.  They are in a brown sugar/butter sauce that is amazing.  Not for dieters, but amazing none-the-less.

The friendly staff are happy to explain the menu to you and offer suggestions, or you can check out the menu (and menu explanation) here to be prepared. They offer a kids menu as well.

They offer take-out and catering and often hold special events like craw fish boils!  Our waitress recommended coming early for these because they are popular events!  Keep your eye their fb page for the next one.

The restaurant is decked out in Mardi Gras decorations and is such a fun place to visit.  Check it out! Or maybe you have already? Let us know what you think?
