Ooh La - La Barista

Looking for a quiet place to have breakfast and chat with friends after dropping the kids at school?  Or maybe you need a relaxing place to finish up some work and grab a coffee on the way into the office.

Check out La Barista on Grand Ave in West Des Moines.  It's right across the way from Hy-vee at Railroad & Grand.  Look for the sign that says "Coffee Bar & Drive Thru", the La Barista name is a little hard to spot at the top of the sign.

The cafe is welcoming and has the "small town feel".  Owner and Operator Adrian Barrantes opened La Barista in 1995.  The cafe seats about 20 and is never too crowded to enjoy a slice of quiche or a pastry and beverage.  Adrian offers a variety of espresso drinks as well as mochas (I recommend the Iced White Chocolate), blended chillers and some non-coffee drinks.  On my next visit, I'll be trying the Hot Chocolate Macaroon (hot chocolate with coconut syrup), yum!  Check out the drink menu here.

The hubby is a fan of the drive thru for  Adrian's coffee brew of the day that is under two bucks.  My friend Carye recommends the Mocha Royal that's made with Ghiradelli dark chocolate.

We all agreed the homemade quiche was the highlight of our visit today.  Stop in to check out La Barista and let us know how you liked it!
